Natasha Tretheway Wins Poetry Pulitzer

The Pulitzer Prize winners have been announced and Natasha Tretheway's collection Native Guard has won the poetry Pulitzer. Earlier in the fall I heard Tretheway read excerpts from Native Guard at a reading at the Beinecke Library and was really impressed by the collection, which deals with her Southern and mixed race heritage.

You can see two videos of Tretheway reading her poetry from Southern Spaces. The videos themselves are interesting, juxtaposing Tretheway reading the poems with photographs, landscape shots, and so on. I'm not sure if this distracts from the poems too much but they're still well worth a look.
