Columbia U. Winners

In the past week there have been some major awards given to Columbia associates: Edmund S. Phelps, a professor at the university, has won the 2006 Nobel Prize in Economics.

Also, it was announced yesterday that Kiran Desai, who studied Creative Writing at Columbia won the 2006 Man Booker Prize for her novel, The Inheritance of Loss.
