9/11

Condoleeza Rice visited Halifax today to thank Canadians who provided help to those in need on September 11th, 2001. It's interesting to note that a lot of Eastern Canadian provinces, such as Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and Prince Edward Island, provided aid and shelter for thousands of stranded passengers.

I was in Sackville, New Brunswick at the beginning of my 2nd year at Mount Allison when I woke up, turned on the TV (I always had my television tuned to CNN in the mornings), and learnt that a plane had flown into the World Trade Center. I remember thinking what a horrible accident, when all of a sudden, the second plane hit, leaving no doubt that the first crash was certainly not a mistake.

Once again, I'd like to post a link to Babylon Burning: 9/11 five years on, an anthology of poems on September 11th and its consequences.

nthposition, the London-based website behind the anthology, has listed Babylon Burning on iTunes as a PDF in hopes of maximising the money raised . Poetry editor Todd Swift notes: "Auden said that 'poetry makes nothing happen', but we think it can, and we'd like to prove it."
