Patrick Goddard, the co-author of the hilarious hit play Johnny Canuck and the Last Burlesque is launching a new novel, The Secret Roses, in monthly issues beginning on Monday, March 6th.
According to an e-mail I received from MainLine Theatre, The Secret Roses "tells the story of a group of army brats stuck on a Canadian base in Germany during the late 1980's. To fight of boredom of their surroundings, they start a role-playing game in which they are encouraged to play themselves - only as comic book super-heroes. Soon their real lives and the game feed off each other in dangerous synergy".
The launch will be on Monday, March 6, in the lounge of MainLine Theatre (3997 St. Laurent). The special guests will include Vince Tinguely, Nick Carpenter, and the theme will be "Base Brats".
The inaugural "Secret Salon" will be hosted by Estelle Rosen. Doors open at 7:30 pm. The show starts at 8 pm. Admissions is $5.
Single issues of The Secret Roses will be on sale for $3, a 6-issue subscription will also be available for $15.
