Zine launch aftermath
Yesterday I was invited to read at Stationaery's zine launch. It took place in the 4th floor of a loft where Le Swimming used to be. I really didn't know what to expect when I got there so I was glad to have some of my friends there to support me. It's nice to know I had some people rooting for me in a crowd of anonymous faces. I don't really have any other pictures of the event but you do get to see my sexy new hat in the one above of Eva and I. I do however have some video footage of my performance which is nice to have not only for archival purposes but also to see what worked and what didn't work for the next time I read.
I didn't really know any of the other poets and writers who went up however Sherwin Tjia was there and he's always entertaining. I, of course, was honoured to be in the same line up as him since I recently saw him at the Coach House Fall Launch a few weeks ago. He read some really funny one-sentence stories which I hope he releases soon. We got to talk at the end of the evening and he's a really sweet guy. Really soft-spoken and down to earth. I'm a big fan of his work and his performance style so it was great to have the opportunity to chat. I actually had a pamphlet of his in my bag promoting his great book of pseudohaiku's The World is a Heartbreaker even though I had no clue he was going to be reading. He seemed to have gotten a kick out of that.
