SACKVILLE, NB — The opening week of the Festival by the Marsh was an event-filled one, featuring the Ear and Now Festival, the opening of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” the opening of “Sight Lines” - an exhibition featuring landscape artists at Fog Forest Gallery, and many other events.
“We’re extremely pleased with the response so far,” said artistic producer Ron Kelly Spurles. “The Ear and Now Festival was very well received, and our Jazz and Dessert night at the Marshlands Inn, presented in collaboration with Catbird Jazz was a great success. In fact, it was completely sold out. All our events are drawing good crowds, and we’re very excited about week two.”
The second week of the Festival features “Midsummer Nocturne,” a concert with Janet Hammock and friends, the “Late Night Jam” presented by the Mount Allison University music department, “Hot Toddy” at George’s Roadhouse, and several other events.
The Festival’s highly praised production of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” will also continue with shows from Wednesday, July 20 to Sunday, July 24 in the evening, and also a matinee on Saturday in addition to the evening show that night. “We’re very excited about the response to the show,” said Kelly Spurles. “People are finding the combination of the setting, the wonderful costumes, original music, and large talented cast to be really entertaining and fun.”
