I went to a Portuguese restaurant with my mother this evening called l'Etoile de l'Ocean. My parents used to take me there when I was younger and we had gotten to know the owner and his family well. I remember being quite little and asking for "vino" when we were asked what we wanted to drink. Now, I was really too young to drink wine but they always knew I really meant 7-Up. Another thing I liked to order was Cappuccino - not really the coffee - they used to bring me a cup full of froth sprinkled with chocolate. Mmm, now that was good.

Anyway, the folks we used to know no longer work there which is one of the reasons we haven't been back but since I'm leaving for Sackville tomorrow, I was feeling nostalgic and thought it would be nice to take a trip down memory lane.

The food was good: I had a caldo verde (the literal translation would be "green soup" or "green broth" and it's made up of kale, potatoes and you can usually find a delicious slice of chorizo) and for the main course I ordered grilled sardines; a Portuguese specialty.

No "frothy" cappuccino for me to finish off the meal but I did have vino - real vino - and it was absolutely marvelous.

I'm not all packed up yet; I'll finish tomorrow but I guess the next time you read a post by me, it'll be coming to you all the way from Sackville, New Brunswick.

Until we meet again. Stay magnificent Montreal.
