Elizabeth Bishop: American Master

Elizabeth Bishop is one of my favorite poets of all time (I can relate to her travel-filled life and we both share a Nova Scotian/Maritime connection) and I was very happy to learn that The Library of America has decided to publish a collection of her poems, prose, and letters.

Only nine poets have shared this honor, including Walt Whitman, Robert Frost, and Bishop is the first woman.

She only published about eighty or ninety of her poems in a handful of books over her lifetime, making this publication a tremendous posthumous accomplishment.

More here.
