At a lecture at UC Irvine, Mark Strand is quoted as saying, "there's no connection between rap and poetry... I can't listen to it. It's like being blasted up against a wall." Oh, Mark. I love ya, but you've got to take it easy. At this rate, your chance of becoming MTVs poet laureate after John Ashbery's term ends is getting slimmer and slimmer.
