Library of congress has appointed Charles Simic the new poet laureate of the United States. I'm a big fan of Simic's work; his unique blending of wry humor with dark, surrealistic imagery is often imitated but rarely matched. Check out some of my favorite Simic pieces: "The Fork" and excerpts of prose poems from "The World Doesn't End".
