Spanish poet Antonio Gamonedea has received the Cervantes prize for literature, Spain's top literary award. The prize, named after 16th-century writer Miguel de Cervantes and author of Don Quixote de la Mancha, is worth €90,430 (US$120,000). On an interesting note, Gamoneda was as an orphaned child, living in a poor neighborhood and the only book in his house was one written by his late-father; it was with this book that the young Gamoneda learned to read.
