The Poem as Comic Strip

Every word in a poem counts. Similarly, comics are about pairing down images to the essential. With this idea in mind, PoetryFoundation.org has invited contemporary graphic artists to interpre poems from The Poetry Foundation's vast archive.

The first comic strip is David Heatley's interpretation of Diane Wakoski's 1966 poem "Belly Dancer".
