Auden Centenary 2007

The centenary of W. H. Auden's birth takes place on February 21, 2007. Considered by many to be one of the greatest writers of the 20th century, Auden's life and work will be celebrated this month throughout the English-speaking world. Auden's "Musée des Beaux Arts", "In Memory of W. B. Yeats", and "The Unknown Citizen" are among some of my favourite poems.

At Yale University on February 21, 2007, the Whitney Humanities Center will present a tribute to Auden, featuring John Hollander, Anne Fadiman, Langdon Hammer, Richard Lalli, Penelope Laurans, J.D. McClatchy, and Edward Mendelson.
