Reading by John Steffler, Poet Laureate of Canada


On Friday, January 5, 2007 at 7:00 pm, John Steffler, the new Parliamentary Poet Laureate of Canada will be reading at de Seve Cinema, Concordia University, 1400 de Maisonneuve West, Montreal. For more information: 514-844-6073.

On December 4, 2006, John Steffler was named Canada's Parliamentery Poet Laureate. He is the author of Helix: New and Selected Poems, published by Vehicule Press and winner of the 2003 Newfoundland and Labrador Book Award. Steffler is also the author of That Night We Were Ravenous, The Grey Islands, and several other poetry collections. His novel, The Afterlife of George Cartwright, won the Smithbooks/Books in Canada First Novel Award and the Thomas Raddall Award, and was shortlisted for the Governor General's Award and the Commonwealth Prize for Best First Book.

John Steffler lives in Montreal and is scholar-in-residence at Concordia University.
