Canadian bacon, haggis, and poetry

Canada's national poetry magazine, Arc, has launched a year-long, on-line poetry exchange with the Scottish Poetry Library in Edinburgh.

The idea is to introduce Canadian poets to Scottish readers and Scottish poets to Canadian readers.

Each month, one Canadian poet will write about his or her favourite Scottish poet, and that piece will be featured on the website for the Canadian poetry magazine.

A Scottish poet will do the same with a Canadian poet, introducing their style and technique on the site of the Scottish Poetry Library.

This month, in the first essay of the series, Canadian poet and novelist Aislinn Hunter writes about award-winning Scottish poet John Burnside.
