So I went to Expozine yesterday and got to rub elbows with zinesters, artists, writers, and poets galore. I'm a bit of a literary pack-rat so I really have to watch out for these types of events because I'm tempted to buy, buy, buy.
And buy I did! I am now the proud owner of David McGimpsey's uber-funny book of poetry, Hamburger Valley, California, and The Unrequited Giant & Other Freaks by DeAnne Lyn Smith, a collection of formal and concrete poetry that takes you through the minds of sideshow carnivals and freaks.
I also got a chance to talk to Jon Paul Fiorentino and grabbed a copy of his chapbook, Selected Losses which is kind of like his testing ground for The Theory of the Loser Class (coming out Spring 2006). Sherwin Tjia was there too and I picked up RAWR, a small chapbook of one-sentence stories I first heard him read at the Stationaery launch last Friday. I really wanted to buy one of his infamous Scrabble pins for Maryn but unfortunately M's were in short supply. Oh well, one day I'll find and 'M' pin. One day...
Anyway, now I have a whole lot of reading to do. Sweet.
