I'm a big boy today...
We left Sackville this morning after having some homemade rice pudding for breakfast and Maryn's mom whisked us away right on time because a thick wall of fog was starting to head in to town. See this is unacceptable because I ALWAYS have nice weather on my birthday so we made a break for it just on time so we could reach sunnier pastures.
The ride from Sackville to Yarmouth was about five hours long but it didn't seem so bad because we stopped for lunch in Halifax at a restaurant by the waterfront. We also stopped to browse through a craft festival as well as a gay pride festival where we were able to do view all kinds "colourful characters". I particularly liked seeing people dressed in leather chaps. That fashion trend just never goes out of style.
When we arrived to Yarmouth, Maryn's father had a barbecue waiting for us and even though it seemed like we had just finished eating lunch, we were famished from out trip. We were all happy to be out of the car and I think Maryn's dogs, Chip and Rudy, were even more excited to have company over since we were welcomed with plenty of whines and wet kisses.
The Stockman family had an ice cream cake prepared for me complete with a goldfish on the cake (Fanta couldn't make it but he was with us in spirit). I received some wonderful presents from Maryn: a couple of bags of Gummi worms and Gummi bears; orange chocolate; a CD by Zachary Richard; a book of poetry by Sackville Poet Laureate, Douglas Lochhead; and finally a book on legendary gunfighter, Bat Masterson.
We ended the evening by roasting marshmallows by a toasty fire in the Stockman's backyard.
It was a very nice way to celebrate my twenty-four years of life on this wild and crazy place we call earth.
A big hello goes out to my family who celebrated my birthday sans the birthday boy but I appreciate all the kind wishes I received today.
I miss you all.
