"Leonard Cohen": Teachers
It's a beautiful day outside and I don't think I'm going to be spending too much time on the computer today. I just wanted to let everyone know that I am alive and well. I'm thinking of going outside to so some reading on the grass. I love it when the weather starts to warm up and you can go outside without a jacket on. It's so relaxing. I started reading Jack Kerouac's novel "The Dharma Bums" and it is just a wonderful read. It makes me want to put on a knapsack and go climb The Matterhorn.
I was going through my archives and found a really funny rant I posted when I first started this Blog. I'm going to repost it so that we can all be nostalgic (ok maybe I'll be the only one but this is my site so I can do what I want pllllllth!)

A long rant...
Something has been bugging me. When I tell my friends that I have a weblog, they respond with a confused "Huh? What's that?" It seems that everyone I know has never seen one or has never even heard of a personal online diary. They seem confused and don't understand why anyone would want to make a diary, (which is supposed to be personal) available for strangers to see. Am I the only person that knows about weblogs? Obviously no, since there are thousands upon thousands of them all over the net. Yet I still find it strange that I have to explain myself. Blogging is a form of online publishing. As an artist it allows me to publish my thoughts, opinions and day to day experiences with others. It allows people to see my innermost thoughts-even though that in itself is pretty scary, but that's an entirely different story all together...
Now although it may seem mundane to read about some strangers day to day life, boring even; I believe that people are voyeurs. Everyone is interested in everyone else's life. For example this strange fascination with reality television that has occured in the past couple of years. I find it funny that this trend occured right after "The Truman Show". For those of you that haven't seen the movie, in a nutshell, it's about a man who is born on tv and lives his life not knowing that his whole life is a tv show. At the time I thought, wouldn't it be weird if this actually happens? Voyeur tv becomes the new "in thing"? A few years later and sure enough, it's happened. There's Survivor, Big Brother, The Lofters, The Mole, The Great Race, Lost, Real TV, the list goes on and on. Think about it though, it makes sense that the major television stations are trying to make more and more of them. They're cheap to film, you don't need a script, the "actors" don't need to get paid that much, and it's easy to edit on the fly. If people tune in, then they win.
Anyways, after that long winded rant I would like to say that I do have a point to make. Weblogs allow people to reach out to others and weblogs also allow their opinions to be published for others to see. We are all voyeurs and we all like to learn about other people's lives. Why do you think we watch drama's and sitcom's?The world is already such a complicated place why not take a break from ours and look at someone else? Online diaries and personal websites may not change the world but it does make the world a smaller place to live in. The next question to ask is whether or not this is a good or bad thing? Why don't you think about that and write your opinion in the comment board. I'll be sure to answer it as soon as possible. Thanks and goodnight.
