"Hunter": Bjork
I got nostalgic today after I got a "Calvin and Hobbes" book today as a present. I haven't read them in such a long time. I remember reading them when I was younger and I was always fascinated by Bill Watterson's art and even then I knew how "smart" his comics where. In an age where consumerism is almost unavoidable Bill Waterson left the comic book world in 1995 leaving many admirers without their daily "Calvin and Hobbes" fix. However rather than letting someone else take over his magical creation, Bill took the high road and ended the comic strip at the peak of its success. Teemu Makinen put it best in describing the end of "Calvin and Hobbes" on his website Bill Watterson:

"To many it felt like losing a close acquaintance. But the course of action was inevitable. Nothing lasts in this world, and the good moments are among the shortests."

The character's Zen-like enthusiasm for life and their profound wisdom are still as powerful, funny, and wise as they were when I read my first "Calvin and Hobbes". Thank you Bill Watterson for creating something so magical and timeless. If you have a chance pick up one of Watterson's books, you won't regret it.

Here are some great Calvin and Hobbes quotes:

Calvin: What's it like to fall in love?
Hobbes: Well... Say the object of your affection walks by...
Calvin: Yeah?
Hobbes: First, your heart falls into your stomach and splashes your innards. All the moisture makes you sweat profusely. This condensation shorts the circuits to your brain, and you get all woozy. When your brain burns out altogether, your mouth disengages and you babble like a cretin until she leaves.
Calvin: That's love?!?
Hobbes: Medically speaking.
Calvin: Heck, that happened to me once, but I figured it was cooties!

Hobbes: How come we play war and not peace?
Calvin: Too few role models.

Calvin: I hate to think that all my current experiences will someday become stories with no point.

Calvin: Sometimes I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.

Hobbes: If you couldn't find any weirdness, maybe we'll just have to make some!

Calvin: I go to school, but I never learn what I want to know.
