This Is My Hope
So the United States and its allies Britain and Spain have decided to abandon their UN resolution seeking Security Council support for war. Bush has issued an ultimatum for Saddam Hussein, "leave Iraq or face a military strike". I don't know about you but this scares me. The UN has become a joke. Due to one country's power. This is democracy? Let me use a simile. The US government is like a small, spoiled child. He wants to blow up some firecrackers and plans on blowing them up no matter what yet still asks his parents if he can do it. After they say no, he still blows it up. This is the relationship between the US and the UN right now.
I'm not going to go on a long rant about how I'm anti-war because you all already know this by now. I know that war is inevitable. I know that war will always exist no matter how many protests we have. I know that protests do nothing to prevent governments from doing whatever the hell they want to do in the first place. I know that no matter how many candles I light, that there will always be war. I'm not stupid and I'm not going to rant.
This is a complicated situation and it is hard to find the words, and feelings that I want to express. But I'll give it a shot. There are potentially a lot people that are going to be put into harms way because of this impending war. I hope that this war will be accomplished as swiftly and as effectively as possible with minimal casualties. I hope the governments involved remember the people. I hope that Saddam's government is toppled. I hope that once it is toppled that the people are not forgotten. I hope that a new government is put up as quickly as possible so that the people of Iraq can rebuild their lives. I hope that that everyone will be able to go back to whatever form of normal life they want to return to.
This is my hope.
Thanks for reading.
