"Island in the Sun": Weezer
I have joust returned from seeing my favourite superhero of all time come to life on the big screen and boy am I happy as a little kid again. Sam Raimi did a wonderful job directing Spiderman. I was a little hesitant at first just because film adaptations of popular characters from video games and comic books don't nessesarily translate well into movies (anyone remember Super Mario Brother or the last two Batman movies? No neither do I). Tobey Maguire did a great job as the awkward Peter parker/Spiderman character and there even many of the other characters were perfectly cast. Honorable mention goes out to Willem Dafoe who played a terribly creepy Green Goblin as well as whoever played J.J. Jameson.
This movie left me wanting to be Spiderman just like when I was a little kid. All in all a very faithful adaptation to the comic book which left me thouroughly satisfied. I found that X-Men, although a good movie still left me feeling that something was mising. Spiderman rules!!!
Yesteryday I mentioned that I went to my old high school to see the Film Festival and I was really impressed with the quality of the films. The kids there really seem to have a passion for arts and movies and it really felt good to see that there are so many enthusiastic up-and-comers. It means I get more competition when I get older... hmmmm... maybe that's not a good thing :-)
Have a great weekend everyone!
